Utica Common Council Passes New Law, Overrides 21 Vetoes on Budget
The Utica Common Council convened a special meeting to introduce a law suspending raises for council members, the mayor, and the comptroller, passing the measure with a 5-3 vote for the current budget year. Additionally, the council unanimously overrode all 21 vetoes issued by the mayor on this year’s budget, resulting in a tax increase of 3.13%. The actions taken solidify the budget for the next fiscal year.
