Utica Council Approves New Law, Overrides 21 Vetoes for Budget Year
The Utica Common Council held a special meeting to introduce a law suspending raises for the council, mayor, and comptroller, passing it 5-3. The council also unanimously voted 8-0 to override 21 vetoes from the mayor on this year’s budget. As a result, the tax increase is set at 3.13%, and the budget for the next fiscal year totals over $31 million. This law and the budget adjustments will only be effective for the current fiscal year.
